Project Overview

XTALK is a real-time voice and video communication system delivered across four clients: Android, iOS, web browser and TV. The TV client runs on an in-house RK mainboard with its own Android system, so the same call works between a phone, a browser and a screen on the wall. Server side covers signalling, room and group management.

Technical Challenges

Keeping one real-time call interoperable across four clients with very different capabilities, including a TV running an in-house RK Android mainboard.

Solution

Shared media and signalling design across Android, iOS, web and TV clients; the TV client runs on an in-house RK mainboard Android build; self-built server handles signalling, rooms and group state; audio and video tuned per client for its processing budget.
